A concert is generally defined as a live performance of an artist or a musician, generally carried out in front of an audience. On the onset, it may look fairly simple, but a lot of effort and planning goes into organizing successful concerts. A recital is the basic term used for a show performed by a single or solo musician. The theme and the ambiance of any musical event are usually decided by the type of music being showcased and the feature artists. If people come to listen to jazz, classical or an opera, it is expected that they would be dressed in formals or smart casuals. They do no focus on only one genre or artist. They have now become very popular annual events across all the major countries.

The event organizers always try to ensure that the audience is always amazed and surprised from what is offered to them in various concerts. A lot of interesting elements have been incorporated in the shows, which include stage lighting, image magnification screen, digital displays etc.

No show is ever complete nowadays without the use of pyrotechnics. Fireworks usually are used to mark the beginning and the end of the show. Organizers also add a variety of objects on the stage, if they go with the overall appearance.

When a concert was the only method of communication between the artist and the patrons, they were also regarded as a primary source of income. Now a large number of free and charitable concerts are organized every year. A major part of the profit of these concerts goes to a variety of charitable organizations.
