This article looks at the general scrapbooking topics of gifting scrapbooks. Scrapbooks make great gifts for those people who have everything. They are very personal and will be treasured for a very long time.

Making scrapbooks is easy. If the book is for a gift for some event then the topic may have already presented itself obviously. For example, if it is a 50th birthday, you may do a memories book about that person. If the person has had a proud moment happen with a family member, you may want to do that. For example, if their first grandchild just started school you may want to outline their learning up until now.

The collection of photos and images that is chosen for the book is probably the most important element to be included. Use all the detective work you can in order to collect the items you will need. Employ friends and family members. Be sure not to use the original images. Scan then and print them and return the originals to the owner. Personal preference will dictate whether you choose to print them yourself or send them to a printer.

You will then need the materials to make the book. There are many options when it comes to the book itself. You can go to a local craft supply store and buy a book specifically made for the purpose or you might want to get a photo album instead and adapt it to your purpose. You may even reuse an old picture book of your own if you are more inclined to be environmentally friendly. Do not feel you have to be restricted here. Just about any shape or size will do as long as you can nicely arrange the story inside.

All the materials necessary can be found at the craft shop but be sure to look around at home for treasures. You are going to want some card stock that you can cut shapes from although wrapping paper, magazine paper, newspaper, and other scraps will also do the trick.

It is also not necessary to go out and spend a small fortune on scrapbooking cutters. An exact-o knife with a ruler can do some intricate cutting. Regular scissors will also do. Remember to pay close attention while cutting so as not to harm yourself.

It is a good idea to make a story line plan before gluing anything into the book. If you are the type that needs to see the product before making a decision, pick up some artist tape to temporarily hold images and objects in place. This will allow for easy removal and rearrangement of elements of the design.

Once you find yourself at the end of this project, do not be surprised if you are itching to do another one. It is a relaxing hobby that gives a great feeling after the gift is passed on and appreciated.
